...I've always been experimenting with tape-recorders and things like that since I was a kid, i started playing guitar when I was about 14 years old.
Like so many I started playing in all kind of unknown bands, different styles, from folkrock to jazzrock mostly instrumental music. Very long improvisations on endless themes.
In 1976 I started working as a commercial photographer. A big investment in time
but making music kept playing an important role in my life.
A year later I went on an American tour with the band Golden Earring,
partly as a guitar-roadie but also to play live two very simple parts on a arp-
avatar, a very early guitar synthesizer. Thirty-thousant miles on the road, about
shows in three months was quite an experience. After that I assisted in making
demotracks for their new album. Found out how composing and recording
can go hand in hand. A pleasant and educational week.
Back to shooting pictures.
And back to music again.
Video makes it's appearance. Commercial. And that comes with audio, so there
was reason to invest and experiment. Sometimes I took my chance and produced
music for a film or documentary.
Working as a commercial photographer I was always translating client's ideas in
photographs, which was most of the times fun to do... but, I also wanted to do
something else - working solo on my own stuff in music and video,
Being my own client.

PLOT is Ad van Son, living in The Hague, The Netherlands. Since 1976 he works as a commercial photographer and filmmaker He teaches photography and filmmaking at the Fotoacademie in Amsterdam. His wife's name is Liesbeth, Boris is their son.
